Application Deadline: February 9, 2018
STEP 1: Fill out the VMDAEC Education Scholarship Application. All items marked with a red asterisk must be completed for the submit button to accept your application. Failure to provide requested information may result in disqualification. Send the application electronically using the submit button in the lower left-hand corner of the form no later than 10:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018. You will receive an e-mail acknowledgement. When you have completed your online application please check your spam or junk folder if you did not get it.
If you hit the "submit" button and it takes you to the top of this page, you have entered incorrect information. Please go back and review the document and look for red outlined boxes to make your changes. Be sure to hit "submit" once you have made the changes.
STEP 2: Compile all documents listed below. You can upload them using the upload button in the application or mail them. To upload, scan all documents into a single PDF (use your name for the file name). If you need help making a PDF, click here. If you are mailing, do not staple, paper clip, insert into binders or fold. Do not send any of these documents separately, except where noted. Seal all documents in one envelope in the following sequence (from front to back):
Copy of acknowledgement e-mail (Not required, if you have completed and received the acknowledgement via email).
Copy of most recent electric bill from the electric cooperative serving your primary residence.
One copy of your personal statement. It must be only a one-page, typed and double-spaced document with your full name in the right-hand top corner. The Foundation Board will score the statements based on the following: how compelling your statement is about why you should be selected to receive a scholarship, your financial need, your involvement in school and community activities and your family dynamics. Points will be deducted, if you include a resume, profile of extracurricular activities, certificates, or other personal records.
Copy of preliminary high or home school transcript.
Copy of Standardized Test Scores (SAT and/or ACT). The SAT score MUST come from the College Board. It can be found on www.collegeboard.org. The ACT student report can be found on www.act.org. Scores listed on transcripts do not qualify.
Please note: If you have taken your SAT scores more than once you may take the best score from each test ("Super Score") to put on your on-line application. Both tests must be submitted in your package to qualify.
